this haunts. i heard her once at the brooklyn academy of music, singing one of his earlier pieces, from the gospel at colonus. she held a note so long that someone in the audience, wonderful africanist voice/vocal style, called, 'sistah, make it eeeeasy on yourself!' thank you.
